Data Availability Policy
Teknokultura recommends that authors deposit or make available any data or materials used in the research conducted for the preparation of their article in reputable repositories, both discipline-specific and generalist. Materials to be deposited may include bibliographies, tables, images, observation protocols, interview scripts, or potentially even prompts used in AI-assisted bibliographic searches and queries. The aim of this policy is to promote scientific development and ensure that research can be validated, replicated, and analyzed for other studies. To achieve this, it is necessary that the data used be available and accessible without restrictions. However, it is important to note that data should only be shared if ethically appropriate and if it does not violate the protection of individuals or other ethical, privacy, or security considerations.
The chosen repository must be a FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) repository and open access. The re3data research data repository registry can be consulted, bearing in mind that each repository (Zenodo, Figshare, Dryady, etc.) has its own deposit rules. Additionally, authors should cite the dataset in the body of the article, with the corresponding reference in the reference list.
Data Availability Note
It is mandatory for the authors to provide a data availability note stating whether the data is available or, conversely, if it is inaccessible. This information should appear at the end of the article, before the bibliography, under the heading Data availability. If the data is available, the repository where it has been deposited, the name, URL, and identifier code of the repository should be included. If the data cannot be published, the authors must explain the reason in this note, just as they should if they have not used any data in their research. Below is a list of standard templates for the text that will appear in the ‘Data Availability Statement’ portion of the article. Authors are encouraged to choose one of these templates when they submit their article.
|
Availability of data |
Template for data availability statement |
|
Data openly available in a public repository that issues datasets with DOIs or Handle |
The data that support the findings of this study are openly available in repository name (e.g. Zenodo’) DOI/HANDLE, reference number. |
|
Data openly available in a public repository that does not issue DOIs |
The data that support the findings of this study are openly available in repository name (e.g. ‘Zenodo’), URL, reference number. |
|
Data available in the article or its supplementary material |
The data that supports the findings of this study are available in this article (and/or its supplementary material) |
|
Data available on request from the authors |
The data that supports the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author. |
|
Data not available |
The data is not publicly available due to privacy, ethical or commercial restrictions. |
|
No research data or any of the other materials mentioned were utilized in this study |
No new data was generated or analyzed, and no materials of interest—such as bibliographies, tables, images, observation protocols, interview scripts, or potentially even AI prompts—were produced. |
|
Data unavailable due to lack of participant consent |
The participants in this study did not consent to the public sharing of their data. |
How to Cite in References
The citation of shared data should be included alongside the other bibliographic references in the publication. In addition to the full bibliographic reference for the data, the citation must include the unique and permanent identifier of the repository where the data is stored.
Example of inclusion in the article's references:
