Abstract

This paper proposes a study aimed at identifying key elements of the contemporary ecosystem of social experience in digital culture through the analysis of the Internet meme as an artifact situated at the intersection of digital culture, image theory, and network society. The objectives are to identify the characteristics of online digital imagery and to detect the connections between art, creativity, and memes. The primary tools utilized include critical review of specialized literature and visual cartographies. Through this, the characteristics of the digital memes will be delineated as a prominent phenomenon within digital communication processes and creative remix practices in the network. The conclusions highlight social dynamics emerging from the outernet and visual mediations, with the Internet meme serving as a multi-logical process, significant for its role as part of digital folklore.
