Abstract

The university training of future Music teachers in Primary Education centers has been adapted to the European Higher Education Area and to the new challenges posed by the educational system. Bolonia’s Plan has modified the structure of the former specialist teacher diploma to make way for undergraduate studies with qualifying mentions. In view of this situation, it is proposed to evaluate the teacher training acquired in the new study plans of the four universities of Castilla y León and compare them with the previous system of specialities, with the general objective of determining whether the new study plan has been beneficial for the professional preparation of students as future music teachers. For this, a qualitative methodology based on the case studies has been used. Among the conclusions, the study evidences the insufficient musical formation that the students received with the old Diploma of Master Specialist and the even more exiguous one that they receive nowadays after the adjustment to the Bologna Plan.
