Environmental television broadcasting in Spain: 'El escarabajo verde' [The Green Beetle] (TVE2, 1997-up to now)
Abstract
The 22 years of weekly broadcasting of El escarabajo verde is an unparalleled success in the history of Spanish television. Especially when the interest in science is not great in our society, and also the economic crisis meant a reduction in the production budget and staff for the program. The article analyzes the changes in the structure of the program, the journalistic genres, the role of the presenter, the specialization and the use of social networks that have allowed this La 2 TV production not only to survive, but to constantly improve and give what its faithful audience expected of it.
