Obfuscation. Tactics of resistance against surveillance capitalism
Abstract
Although massive surveillance is not exclusive to the Internet, the current volume of data collection and preservation by government agencies and corporations confronts us with noxious consequences on different levels. In an information context where the digital abstinence is not a valid option for most people, since data collection is an inherent condition for many essential social activities, we present a theoretical review of a critical re-sistance tactic to this daily digital surveillance regime: the obfuscation.
