Trainee teachers’ views on the role of augmented reality in Secondary Education
Abstract
The development of the 21st century digital society goes hand in hand with the incorporation of various technologies. In the field of education, one of these technologies is augmented reality, ever more present in society and beginning to be used in educational contexts. The objective of the study was to explore the views of trainee teachers on the use of this technology in secondary education using a correlational quantitative study. In total, 477 trainee teachers from the Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teacher Training at the University of Cordoba participated in the study. The results showed that teachers in training believed that the use of augmented reality in teaching would promote collaborative and cooperative work and encourage creativity amongst students. Differences in trainee teachers’ views on the use of augmented reality based on participants’ gender were identified.
