Musical Expression Programs in Early Childhood Education to Improve Inclusion

a Systematic Review of the Literature

Keywords: Systematic review; Music; Intervention; Inclusive school.

Abstract

The harmonization of the cognitive with the emotional should guide the efforts of all teaching practice. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review of the scientific evidence on music programs aimed at early childhood education (ECE) in order to identify their characteristics. PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes) and PICOS (population, intervention, comparator, outcome, study characteristics) guidelines were used through 5 electronic databases from 2010 to 2020. Nine articles were included. The findings show a poorly considered view of the construct in the literature. Among the conclusions, it stands out that, in the last decade of the course of music programs, there are hardly any studies related to the ECE stage.
