¿Qué significa "evaluar" en música?
Abstract
This essay presents five requisites of effective, fair and beneficial assessment in the field of music education, as a reflection on how to improve the assessment strategies of music learning, within the specific context of an ear-training course, at an institution of higher education: the Faculty of Music of the University of Costa Rica. These requirements are: 1) the need for teachers to take a stance about the role of assessment in their praxis, 2) the need to reach an agreement on the meaning of relevant constructs in the musical field, 3) the guarantee of reliability and validity in assessment strategies or instruments, 4) the use of rubrics to evaluate knowledge, skills and attitudes involved in ear-training courses, and 5) the need to inform students about how they will be assessed, as well as what the result of their assessment, in order for them to take advantage of that information to improve their learning.Downloads
