Relationship between academic achievement and emotional intelligence in undergraduate and Master's Degree students at the University of León
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Currently, there are different studies that analyse this relationship. These studies provide education with indications to take into account not only cognitive skills, but also emotional and non-cognitive skills, which have been shown to increase learning and motivation. METH: Acorrelational ex post facto survey has been used. The TMMS-24 scale, the Adult Emotional Development Questionnaire (CDE-A) and the average grade of the students has been noted. A total of 123 undergraduate and Master's Degree students from the University of León have participated in the study. RESULTS: In relation to the results obtained, no correlation has been found between the average grade and the dimensions of attention and repair, between the average grade and emotional competences, significant differences were found between the average grade and the clarity dimension, and between the average grade and the branches of knowledge. DISCUSSION: With regard to the added value, the opinion of the university students who indicate their interest in taking a subject on emotional intelligence at university.
