Marcello Dudovich, the great advertiser
Abstract
Dudovich was one of the greatest Italian illustrators of the 20th century, the best one for lots of people. He arrived to Milan when he was very young and he was Metlicovitz and Hohenstein’s trainee; and Cappiello, Laskoff or Mauzan’s partner. He synthesised the influences of Jugendstil, Art Nouveau y Modern Style, contributing to the success of the Liberty and the advertising poster in a decisive way.
He was the illustrator of fashion par excellence. He raised the artistic quality of an eminently ephemeral manifestation, like the advertising campaigns that emerged in Italy imitating French people were.
