Translation strategies of Spanish into Chinese comics from Relevance theory: the case of ‘El destino de Numancia, Aius’
Abstract
The comic is an artistic expression that is characterized by the integration of texts and images. There are very few articles that study the strategies of comic translation from Spanish to Chinese. The present article is a contrastive analysis between the comic in Spanish and the Chinese version. Comic translation strategies are proposed in order to provide some reflections for those who are dedicated to the translation of the comic and thus enrich the market of Spanish comics in China. The work is based on the theory of relevance of Sperber and Wilson, authors who claim that the study of communication contributes to the search for an optimal relevance.
