Abstract
Journalism and journalits face a crisis of credibility forced by their distance of the public and the access of citizens to new ways of producing and consuming information thanks to the new digital technologies. This article analizes the challenges for the public television media to legitimate their role as public media corporations in a strong commercial and competitive sphere. The study is based in 40 in-depth interviewes with professionals from BBC and TVE, and a comparative analysis of their discourses concerning their identification as journalists, their ideas about what means public service to them and the way in which they think of incorporating the citizens in the journalistic process.Downloads
