Functions and origins of images and graphics in journalism. The case of the Colombian newspaper "El Tiempo"
Abstract
This article examines the informative and journalistic repertoire of the most important newspaper in Colombia: El Tiempo. The corpus of study consists of 126 graphic pieces corresponding to an edition of the newspaper on a Sunday, September 2015. Classification scheme and screening images are constructed from binary and hierarchical criteria that records the origin and authorship of studying graphic material and the type of relations it has with events and current events, and the temporary nature of the pieces.
