Steven Spielberg’s Men in his Monster Movies
Abstract
The research question is “what is the evolution of the masculinities represented by the male protagonists of Steven Spielberg’s monster movies?” We follow an analytico-synthetical method, based on Pat Kirkham and Janet Thumim’s (1993) four sites and on Jesús González Requena’s Theory of the Text (1996). In the conclusions we observe that masculinity, regarded as a compendium of the sites analyzed, is summed up in the wish of being a man and occupying the place of the Father: that is what is sought for by the children-men that mainly star in the analyzed film texts.Downloads
