Limits of the freedom of expression in the respect to the intimacy: case studies in the images treatment
Abstract
In this article we have tried to analyse the treatment that the murders of Sadam Husein, Osama Bin Landen and Muamar Gadafi received in the Spanish papers (ABC, El País and El Mundo). We will try to reach a conclusion about the freedom of speech limits from a respect point of view to privacy, to honour and to one’s own image and in this particular case the respect to grief. We will see how the limit between public and private blurs and how the same happens to the line between private and privacy. We will try to find a balance between the population’s right to be informed and the victims’ privacy rights.Downloads
