Genesis of teacher training permanent Physical Education
Abstract
This article will provide a historical review of the beginning of teacher training in physical education in Spain and more specifically in Andalusia. To do this, we have done a thorough legislative review of early attempts to upgrade teacher training in the eighteenth century to the educational changes that occurred after to the Spanish Civil War. The findings showed that gym teachers, (current PE teachers) have always given a special treatment that differentiated them from teachers of other subjects. Contrary to what one might think, they have always been present since the beginning of Education activities.
