Abstract
This article takes on the study of When I Was Puerto Rican (1993), a collection of memoirs by Puerto Rican writer Esmeralda Santiago, in order to explore its Spanish translation, also authored by Santiago (1994). The case analysis focuses on the discursive and cultural displacements which are evident in this instance of self-translation. More specifically, the study deals with the changes which, in the translation, affect the configuration of cultural difference and which can be associated with the different editorial itineraries in which these texts are meant to be inscribed.Downloads
