An Approach to Functionalism in Literary Translation
Abstract
This paper proposes an approach to functionalist theories in the field of literary translation, in order to complement well-established models, such as the linguistic and the philological approaches. The concept of literary translation will be reviewed, by which we will be able to justify the relevance of functionalism, as well as to study Nord’s literary communication model. Moreover, we will analyse the main criticisms to the Skopostheorie, explaining the theoretical justification to show its relevance and effectiveness for literary translation.Downloads
