The Coverage of the Economic Crisis in the News of the Spanish Private Television (2012): a Quality Analysis of News Programmes
Abstract
The aim of this study is analyze the coverage of the economical crisis by the two most important Spanish private televisions in one of its key years, 2012, in one hand, and to seek out for markers of infotainment in the news about the topic. For this purpose, we have performed a content analysis of prime time Current Affairs programmes of Antena 3 and Telecinco. The paper focuses on which topics, sources, actors and framings were present in the most widely consumed media in this country.
