Álvaro Cunqueiro: la necesidad de informar sobre el envés de la actualidad.

Abstract

When there are only a few months for the celebration of the twentieth anniversary of Álvaro Cunqueiro's death (Mondoñedo (Lugo) 1911-1981), he's already recognized as one of the best Spanish writers of this century. However, still there are only few who know him 193 Montse Mera Fernández Álvaro Cunqueiro: la necesidad de informar sobre el envés de la actualidad in his facet of journalist. Linked to journalism for most of his life, he was the director of Era Azul and Faro de Vigo, redeemed directive tasks in Vértice and Vida Gallega, worked as editor in Faro de Vigo, and collaborated almost daily in numerous newspapers and magazines for fifty years. From all this activity, nowadays their articles survive as a proaf of a modern and high quality articulism. Among the thousands of articles that Cunqueiro left us, stand out above all the serie "El envés" ­published in the newspaper Faro de Vigo for twenty years (from June 4 of 1961 until February 22 of 1981)-, for constituting the clearest example of his peculiar conception of journalism.
