Cómo se cuenta la historia: Tipología de las narrativas interactivas en el periodismo

Keywords: Interactive narrative, journalism, innovation, journalistic format, storytelling

Abstract

Stories are universal. What changes is the way they are told. Innovation in journalistic narrative consists of adapting content to form in the most effective way possible through the language and resources available. This essay proposes a typology of twenty interactive narratives in journalism. The classification is based on establishing who tells the story and identifying the main element that shapes the backbone of the way information is told. That is, whether the content is based on the anticipation of the future, on the recreation of the events, on the geography where they take place, on the protagonism of the narrator, etc. In practice, a particular format or genre often combines two or more narratives in its production. The author offers a definition of each narrative, briefly outlines some characteristic features and illustrates them with a case published in international or national media in recent years. We note the richness and diversity of interactive journalistic narratives. A growing hybridisation with proposals that incorporate informative, analytic and interpretative elements is highlighted, going deeper in the news, and a direct and personal style of narration, incorporating images and video to appeal to the users to capture their attention, often in a ludic and immersive way.
