Analysis of the integration of intelligent systems for alerts and content automation in four cybermedia
Abstract
The use of artificial intelligence applications in the different phases of news production is already common practice in the most prestigious international media, but the analysis of its use in professional practice is an incipient field of research in the field of journalism. The pioneering research "Application of artificial intelligence in the production of news" developed by the RTVE UAB Chair - Innovation for the innovation of news in the Digital Society delves into its analysis. The aim of this article is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the use of artificial intelligence in the alert system and the automatic generation of texts. The methodology used is qualitative and is based on four case studies carried out in four cybermedia (the RTVE group, Agencia EFE, the sports daily Sport and El confidencial). The results indicate how the use of artificial intelligence in both the alert system and the automatic generation of texts facilitates the journalist's work in a more efficient way, but it also detects the need to ensure that this use is supervised by journalists.
