Political parties and leaders presence in main Spanish television networks during the April 2019 General Elections campaign.
Abstract
This article deals with the presence on television of the main political parties and leaders who were candidates for the Presidency of the Spanish Government during the General Elections of April 28, 2019. The study aims to verify whether presence on television is proportional to the results achieved in Parliament by the different political parties and, at a time, check if their presence on the internet is also equivalent.
The study has already been done on the mentions that leaders and political parties had in the main DTT networks in Spain from April 1st to 29th of the same month, the latter of post-election analysis in the media. Likewise, the number of mentions and news generated on the internet was also checked. By studying the results, we can extract that leaders and political parties´ TV presence had a similar proportion with the electoral results of April 28th, while Internet searches and presence showed mixed results.
