Abstract

Climate change demands society to adopt a favorable attitude to respond to that issue and the media incorporates a valuable tool to achieve it. For this reason, nine media of Spain and Mexico proceeded to identify the density, thematic, and informative treatment that were carried out on the subject, during the years 2015, 2016, and 2017. It was concluded that the media of both countries pay little attention to the matter and when they do, often relate to sensational events, offer a limited thematic and rarely resort to experts as journalistic sources. Thus, is expected that the contents make little contribution to develop a cultural environmentalism.
