Women sport on television sport news. A case study on the victory of Garbiñe Muguruza at Roland-Garros
Abstract
Television sport news not only build an agenda which makes women sport invisible, but also the news frames are not always in accordance with the sportive context. The purpose of the present paper is examining the informative treatment given to female athletes. In order to accomplish this objective, a case study was applied on three sports news from different broadcasters and relative to the same event starring by a women athlete, using discourse analysis as research technique.
