Abstract

This article characterizes the strategy of ideological polarization expressed in the discourses of the American newspaper The New York Times (TNYT) (in Spanish) and El Nuevo Herald (ENH) about the restarting of diplomatic relations among Cuba and United States. For it, the Critical Analysis of the Discourse is utilized as scientific method, with emphasis in Teun van Dijk's proposal of ideological analysis. This study recognizes the manner that TNYT and ENH discredit to the Cuban government, for passivity assumed on the process of normalization of diplomatic relations, and the manner that TNYT and ENH assume the North American government like benefactor of Cuban people
