Galician Language Media System: reality and transformations

Abstract

This article analyses the media system in the Galician language at the beginning of 2016 along the variables of media type, ownership, reach, content and web development, providing data about its reality, growth over the years and transformation. The economic volume of the media system is calculated as well as its social penetration or relative weight, taking into account differences among provinces. Finally, it’s argued a possible correlation among media, language and Galician nationalist ideology. The analysis is built around the linguistic community.
