- GENERAL GUIDELINES
- A template is provided for drafting manuscripts both in .doc format and in .odt format.
- Do not add blank lines or line breaks to change paragraphs. This document is formatted with a 10-point space between paragraphs.
- Do not add a special indentation in the first line.
- Very important: inclusive (or non-exclusionary) language must be used. This is important. For example, instead of writing “library users,” one can say “library user persons”; instead of “library directors or workers,” “the management or director persons or staff or worker persons,” respectively.
- Very important: citations and references must follow the RIBES style. A website with examples is available: a series of commented cases of citations and references and a style file to be used in Zotero and Mendeley: Revista RIBES – Citation and reference style (last updated: February 23, 2025).
- Very important: author data/information must be anonymized in the work, both in the metadata and in citations and references (for example, adding: “citation to authors’ work” and “reference to authors’ work,” to be completed once accepted).
- Likewise, data on funded projects that may identify authors must also be anonymized for review.
- Footnotes may be added in the text, but please note that websites can be cited in the references instead of using footnotes, and that many notes can be integrated into the main text.
- The title of tables comes before the tables.
- The title of figures comes after the figures. Very important: for the quality of the works, figures (charts, images, etc.) should be of high quality.
- If tables and figures are self-produced, there is no need to indicate it. If they come from another source, this must be indicated, e.g., through citation and reference.
- Book titles mentioned in the text should be written in italics and without quotation marks; this also applies to titles in English and other languages.
- The names of institutions in other languages and in Spanish, such as foreign or Spanish companies, should not be placed in quotation marks or italics.
- Numbers in the text may be written with numerals instead of words, following the guidelines of Fundéu: in scientific and technical texts, numerals are preferred for clarity and conciseness. When writing “un” (a), it should not be written as a number; however, when writing “uno” (one), it should be written as “1.”
- At RIBES we use a table with very specific questions and how we have chosen to resolve them. Consulting it may be helpful when facing concrete doubts: dynamic table with frequently resolved issues.
Important note: RIBES may request authors to adapt style-related aspects—especially regarding citations and references, inclusive language, and figure quality—once the work has been accepted by reviewers for publication.
