Abstract

Music, in any of its multiple facets, can be an effective instrument for the regulation and emotional balance of Highly Sensitive People (HSP). Musical expression serves as of the most common ways of self-knowledge and free expression of thoughts and emotions. The research presented below has focused on analysing the existing connections between music students of the Elementary and Professional grades of the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Música de la Excelentísima Diputación de Albacete and High Sensitivity, as well as whether these connections are related to the age, gender, level of studies and speciality of the participants. For this purpose, the High Sensitivity tests for children and adults provided by the PAS-SPAIN Association, previously adapted to this study, were used, and the data were entered into the SPSS v.28 statistical package. The results obtained have shown the existence of sufficient evidence to indicate a direct and significant relationship between professional music studies and High Sensitivity. These data, moreover, open avenues for deepening these relationships and analysing the theoretical and methodological implications related to the teaching-learning processes of musical performance with highly sensitive students.
