Evaluative research on literary aspects in teacher’s training
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: In this contribution we would like to find out, through a diagnostic investigation, the concept of Literature students of the Degree in Primary Education at the University of Murcia, have been forging themselves. The purpose of the article is to show a vision of the concept through different dimensions contributed by future mediators. METHOD: One hundred participants, students from the first two years of the Degree in Primary Education, were chosen. Through their responses in an open typology interview, information related to three major thematic blocks was collected: the concept of Literature, consideration and reading motivation; relationship between literature, cinema and culture; future of Literature. RESULTS: The results will allow us to appreciate a paradox that responds to the influence of the educational system and society. Although the students consider Literature as an art and recognize that their reading experience has been associated with school reasons, their experience with literature is also acknowledged to be limited to vacation periods or specific times such as nights. DISCUSSION: In addition, their predilection for audio-visual versions of books is high. Finally, it is worth highlighting the recognition by the respondents of the benefits reading, even though these responses do not correspond to their level of reading activity.
