Study of the Metric Functioning of the Family Educational Styles Habitual Behaviours Scale (EVALEF-CH)
Abstract
INTRODUCTION Family educational styles are fundamental components of parenting competencies and were extensively studied in the last decade of the last century. The availability of instruments to identify them is of great help for school counselors and family intervention professionals. METHOD In this paper we present the metric study of the EVALEF-CH scale, which is designed with the purpose of updating styles (adding the integral style), the context of information collection, and the way of approaching the challenge of social desirability. This study addresses the analysis of the metric quality of the scale, combining analysis strategies such as reliability, Rasch analysis and CATPCA. The RESULTS reveal a medium level of reliability for the scale and most of the subscales, and an adequate functioning of the items, based on the Rash analysis, as they are within the acceptable limits of fit to the theoretical model. As a CONCLUSION, the dimensional structure proposed from the theoretical framework is supported and relevant information is offered on the quality and use of the EVALEF-CH scale, confirming its suitability for its use in diagnosis and guidance in family intervention.
