Adult education, approach based on the analysis of European good practices

Abstract

Adult education is a growing and relatively unfamiliar phenomenon which is boosted by demographic changes, population aging, current emigrations, and European problems of inclusion and employment. This research is part of the review of good practices on adult education. The development of this work includes the analysis made on 50 best practices carried out in four countries (France, Portugal, Italy and Spain) that have been selected by experts and involving 2,212 adult students (18-70 years). The methodological design is of a descriptive type, based on a questionnaire with open and closed items. This instrument has allowed to analyze these experiences from the teacher point of view. These narratives include the student’s profile, the main skills developed, the specific methodological features, the assessment procedures, the difficulties, and the fundamental keys to success in these cases described as exemplary practices.
