Analysis of the specialisations of the degree in Primary Education from the perspective of the entrepreneurial competence
Abstract
The main objective of this research is to continue to deepen on the initial training of the teacherpreneur in the degree in Primary Education, by analysing the specialisations offered in the degree in Primary Education in Spain. Firstly, an introduction on the profile of the teacherpreneur, the need of the Entrepreneurial Education, and some considerations on the current situation of the degree in Primary Education are presented. Then, the specialisations offered in this degree in the different Spanish universities are analysed, with special emphasis on those closely related to the training of teacherpreneurs. The analysis of the data indicates that only 20 specialisations - out of 414 - related to ICT and one related to social and emotional education are offered nowadays in Spanish universities. The fact is that these only contribute partially to the profile of teacherpreneurs. In short, the ideas expressed throughout the paper, supported by European organizations and national institutions, justify the need to design a specialisation on entrepreneurship that may bring about the development of teacherpreneurs’ competences. This will also contribute to the quality of the initial training for future Primary Education teachers, so that they can meet the demands of today’s market, new ways of teaching and learning, and the integral education of their students. In this sense, the development of the entrepreneurial competence plays a key role.
