The free text, a tool for creative learning
Abstract
This report provides a description of the Free Text as a technique used in the classroom within the framework of the educational proposal defended by Freinet’s pedagogy. It is not a mere tool to be used interchangeably by teachers, but a technique that uses basic principles and issues related to educational renewal, which also require the involvement of teachers committed to it. The Free Text is a technique mainly used for teaching and learning of language at school, which is not only related to the expression and written comprehension but also with oral. The free expression as a fundamental basis to create these texts is among the main principles on which the use of this technique is based. Moreover, it is also highlighted that the use of this educational tool favors the development of creative skills among students. It facilitates the basic questions that encourage children in building their learning within their own interests and motivation. In addition, by using this technique, it is reflected the development of other principles which are present in Freinet’s pedagogy, such as cooperation, autonomy or connection with the environment and a reality closer to the student with their own teaching and learning process inside and outside the classroom.
