The literary journalism of Ignacio Camacho: an analysis of non-political ‘columna’ in ABC (2000-2022)
Abstract
This study examines the literary journalistic work of journalist Ignacio Camacho in the newspaper ABC through his non-political opinion articles. The aim of this research is to identify within this corpus of texts the main themes, structures and stylistic resources. We have examined 125 non-political articles out of the almost 8,000 that he has written in ABC. For this purpose, a detailed discourse analysis was carried out using the method inherited from the ancient rhetorica recepta, combined with an in-depth interview with the author. The results highlight the author's ability to forge a solid style that has been sustained over time and the repetition of certain fetish themes of the author, in which the role of memory stands out and above all the use of novel techniques typical of the eulogy or obituary that he incorporates into the article.
