Colloquial morphosyntactic features in the genre of radio comments in Spain. The case of the “Alsina Monologue” on Onda Cero
Abstract
The commentary is one of the common genres in the programming of Spanish general radio stations. This work carries out a case study of three types of morphosyntactic features of the colloquial register in the “Alsina Monologue” section of the program Más de uno, on the radio station Onda Cero. The 40 monologues of journalist Carlos Alsina broadcast between March 8 and May 7, 2021, are analyzed in the context of the covid-19 pandemic and a regional political campaign. As a theoretical framework, studies of the colloquial register in orality have been adopted (Briz, 2010a, 2010b; López Serena, 2007, 2022) and the analysis of the colloquial in radio commentary (Martínez-Costa, Herrera and Llopis; 2008, 2013). The research confirms the use of these colloquial marks and offers a representative sample of examples of three of these features at the morphosyntactic level: subjective parenthetical comments, appeals to listeners and dramatized stories. The results support the previous observation that the use of the colloquial register constitutes a characteristic of Carlos Alsina's communicative style in his monologues, close to his audience.
