Bolsonaro's electoral speech and journalism's reaction

Keywords: election campaign 2022, Brasil, press, media framing, policy

Abstract

The article analyzes Jair Bolsonaro's interview with Jornal Nacional, from Rede Globo, on August 28, the starting point of the 2022 presidential election campaign, and its repercussion in the media, considering the traditional media through the articles published in national print newspaper (Folha de S. Paulo) and the repercussion in digital media, through the Eleções 2022 program, led by Kennedy Alencar on the Uol channel. For this, we articulate content analysis with the perspectives of the media framework in its relations with political culture, reflecting on the characteristics of political communication associated with conservatism and authoritarianism. The article hypothesizes that the media framing, considering the interview and the approach of the printed media, softened themes dear to Brazilian politics, remaining in an already recurrent field of criticism of the government.
