The Influence of the Digital Ecosystem on the Sports Press in Spain: Media, Users and Pandemic
Abstract
The objective of this research is based on the hypothesis that there are enough technological reasons to suggest that the digital ecosystem has influenced journalism in general and sports journalism in particular. In this sense, it is important to clarify how the elements that constitute the personality of this new digital ecosystem influence the audience. To do this, we have made an interactive map that has allowed us to measure the penetration of digitization in the world of sports journalism and the possible influence of the pandemic. The main conclusion is that there is a general increase in users of technology use in January 2020 compared to January 2019. Of the observed media, only a few decrease the number of users in the period studied and most of them maintain or increase the users, so we conclude that the digital ecosystem plays a decisive role in the consumption of sports media.
