Abstract

British residents on the Costa del Sol have a long history in the city and a large demographic expansion at present. That is the reason why a wide range of English-language media has been generated. This research aims, firstly, to detect the press published in English and aimed at the community of British residents, and, secondly, to analyze its consumption and functionality. The creation of a census of publications and its study through a content analysis, and the application of a questionnaire and a discussion group to readers, have allowed us to obtain results that show a high number of press in English and a high use by the expatriate population. The data also reveal that the more informative press facilitates the process of adaptation and social integration in the new host country.
