Abstract

Political actors address much of its strategy during electoral processes to their appearance in the media, especially on television because has more penetration among voters. We analyze this presence on national public television to assess whether it complies with its obligation to be independent and pluralistic. We rely on the moments before the election call, the pre-campaign and campaign, in this case two Spanish general elections on 20 December 2015 and the 26 June 2016, presenting two singularities: the existence of new political formations with real possibilities of achieving broad representation in Parliament; and, that in just 6 months it went from an absolute majority to a relative and, therefore, there were changes within the public television but you could check if it had variations in their treatment.
