Abstract

This article presents the results of a research which evaluates the possibilities of training in citizen journalism in the fight against violence through a case study: the Agência da Boa Notícia Guajuviras. This Agência is a project of the City of Canoas and the Ministry of Justice of Brazil developed in Guajuviras, a neighborhood stigmatized by poverty and violence. Through this project, youths and adolescents receive classes on communication and citizenship. The research methodology is based on qualitative techniques. The results are centered in two aspects: the evolution of journalism in learning by students, and the progress made in their socialization to the prevention of violence as the ultimate goal
