Abstract

This study is based on technical analysis content such as press releases published by the newspaper La Correspondencia de España between 1860 and 1875, both years inclusive. To infer the results, the selected sample is categorized by form and content. We suggested a typology for the press releases analyzed, and the emphasis is on the business or professional nature, with the intention of knowing the object that motivates them and if it is limited by the defense of the honor, reputation and, ultimately, corporate or professional reputation to the authors of the letters. Finally, there is a debate about the appropriateness of considering these press releases a background of the public relationship practitioners, ending the traditional advertising assimilation.
