The trending topic off the agenda setting
Abstract
Social media allows a huge range of informative demonstrations, from the promotion of newspaper headlines with links to their digital editions, to the most implausible anecdotes with no informative vocation by the man on the street. But between both extremes there are millions of publications every day which speak to us about what are the real interests of the readers. In this investigation we will examine whether this disparity exists between those interests and the thematic agenda of the media. In order to do so we will compare the matters of maximum interest (the trending topics) which are spoken about on what is probably the most informative horizontal network, Twitter, with the topics that are dealt with on the front pages of the digital editions of the Spanish national and mainstream media: Elmundo.es, Elpais.com y el ABC.es.Downloads
