Professionals’ Opinion about the Journalism Studies in Spain an Intergenerational Analysis
Abstract
It is four decades since Journalism studies first began at Spanish universities in 1971. Since then, they have been subject to changes in their contents and methods to adjust to the social demands and students needs. In this paper, authors analyze the evolution of the Journalism studies in Spain, as well as the graduates’ opinion about the education received. We wanted to know if there is a significant difference between the opinions that several generations express on the usefulness of the University studies, because of the evolution of the syllabuses. The results make clear that there are no differences in the general perception of the Journalism studies depending on the professionals’ age. Nevertheless, we have found differences about the positive and negative aspects that every group emphasizes, and this confirms that the increase of practical matters in the syllabuses has been beneficial.Downloads
