Children's Literature: an Educational Path to Understanding Death
Abstract
Children's literature is an ideal medium for addressing the pedagogy of death and grief, as demonstrated in this case study with four-year-old children. After an exploratory phase, an intervention was carried out based on a selection of picture books on death and on proposals aimed at expression and creativity. The results and their discussion corroborate the scarce conceptualisation of death in children, as well as the relevance of the intervention designed to contribute to an understanding of death that favours emotional education and allows for living life to the fullest.
