Información y rectificación. El problema de la diligencia y el derecho de rectificación desde el punto de vista de los periodistas
Abstract
Journalists must contrast and verify the information supplied by their sources. In spite of this, Journalists don’t do it.due to job precariousness, the urgency in which they write their pieces of news and the credibility as data generators they give to the sources, mainly institutional ones,. Also, those circumstances determine the quality of journalistic discourse and mass media and Journalists’ credibility. As a result of this, false, mistaken, wrong or biased pieces of news are published and Journalists rectify this mistake only a few times on their own initiative. If one of the main functions of Journalism is to provide true and accurate information, Journalists’ rejections to rectify imply an attack against the truth, honesty and Journalist ethic. This lack is partly made up for Ombudsmen. The present communication analyses the discourse legitimacy crisis studying, in the context of laws and Information Theory, contradictions and changes in journalistic functions from the point of view of the duty and right to rectification and changes in cultural industry.Downloads
