Abstract
Mar de Fontcuberta Balaguer, the first professor of Journalism at the Universities of Catalonia, has passed away. Dean of the Faculty of Communication of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. This academic article wishes to be an approach to her person, in her practice as a journalist, and to the Communication professional, in her role as a teacher and researcher at the university level, since her career led to a scientific channeling of Journalism and Communication within from the field of Social Sciences.
