The construction of narratives on human mobility phenomena in social networks
a state of the art
Abstract
This article presents a compilation of research that addresses migration phenomena from communication, especially the construction of narratives in digital social networks and digital public space as a process of mediatization between societies that converge in it. The article addresses three different lines of research through which human mobility phenomena such as the refugee crisis in Europe have been analyzed, in relation to the digital public sphere, the construction of narratives and their effects on the audiences that in turn also participate in the development of the phenomenon in communicational terms. Finally, with the help of these approaches, it proposes a line of research to address migratory events in Latin America, specifically in that of the Migrant Caravan or Migrant Exodus that took place in Mexico and Central America in 2018 and that could serve as guide for future research applied to the context of Latin America.
