Report on depopulation from the perspective of rural journalists
Abstract
The depopulation of some areas of Spain has managed to position itself, especially since the demonstration of the “Empty Spain” in Madrid, in the political debate and in the media. This research analyzes how the media treatment of the demographic question is being done from the point of view of rural journalists. The study follows the quantitative methodology of the survey and reveals that, according to the vision of rural journalists, journalistic coverage has improved since that demonstration and that the more local the media is, the more positive it is. It also deepen the main mistakes that are made and what should be the treatment from a thematic and focus point of view.
