TVE cultural programs and Spanish cinema. Analysis of Historia de nuestro cine.
Abstract
TVE's cultural programs on Spanish cinema have historically played a very important role in the formation of audiences, in the construction of the canon and in the diffusion of our film heritage. Among all, Historia de nuestro cine (Francisco Quintanar, 2016-) is, by its size and impact, the most important. In the absence of a detailed study on the aforementioned program, this article aims to analyze this space in the general context of TVE programs focused on Spanish cinema. For this purpose, an analysis of the 863 emissions that make up the first stage of the program has been carried out, broadcasted between 05/12/2015 and 09/21/2018. This article also pays attention to the economic circumstances that made it possible, its public impact and the material conditions in which the films were broadcast. Among the findings obtained, it is worth highlighting, on the one hand, the high degree of attunement that the program shows with the last major revision project of the canon of Spanish cinema, promoted fundamentally from the academic sphere and, on the other, the irregular assumption on the part of the program of minimum quality standards regarding the broadcasting conditions of the films.
